"Dalas" in Lithuanian could be understood as a thick pea, lentil or bean, ie a stew of dried legumes or "dalo" (called the same word) with spices, vegetables and other condiments. Properly selected spices and legumes cooked for a long time and until they fall completely help to prevent this. Prolonged cooking of legumes breaks down long, difficult-to-digest polysaccharide chains, making the "parts" easily digestible and wholesome food.
