About soy
Soya protein is very popular all over the world and for some people it is a staple food. They contain all eight essential amino acids, making them a balanced source of protein. They can be used instead of meat. The soya protein in these pieces is also enriched with the essential vitamins thiamine, riboflavin and vitamin B12, as well as iron.
How to cook
This 500 g packet of soya chunks can be used to make several dishes and is fantastic value for money. They expand when soaked and cooked, so that a 100 g dry weight can be used to make 2-3 large dishes.
1) We recommend soaking them in boiling water for about 10 minutes before use and seasoning with spices such as garam masala, a little soy sauce or balsamic vinegar. Once the soya has swollen, cook them as you would normal meat.
2) Boil the soya chunks in plenty of water for a few minutes. For example, with a piece of broth or some nasi seasoning. Then let it soak for at least 20 minutes. Better still, soak overnight. Then press, fry nicely and add enough of the prevailing spices. Prepare a dish (medley) and add the soya chunks to it.
3) Alternatively, you can add the unsoaked soya chunks directly to the curry or pasta sauce and let it cook.
Add to curries, ratatouille and stews. These soya chunks are very filling, a great source of protein and suitable for vegetarians and vegans, indeed for everyone!
