Natural - sustainable - fair trade
Holy Lama products are mainly made from natural ingredients, avoiding the use of harsh chemicals or synthetics. Where possible, sustainable materials are used for packaging. Less than 1% waste is generated during production and all waste is used as fuel or for cattle, making the company's carbon footprint exceptionally low!
The raw materials used in the production are mainly sourced from local farmers in Kerala and the rest of India, based on strong relationships with farmers spanning seven decades. The business operates without the principle of credit, that is, all farmers and suppliers of raw materials are paid immediately. The factory pays fair wages to workers and fair prices to farmers.
Women's company
Holy Lama Naturals is recognized as a government-approved women's company in Kerala, with more than 80% of its factory workers being women. Most of them come from disadvantaged backgrounds (ie widowed or abandoned by a partner).
