Main ingredients
Amalaki (Amla, Indian gooseberry, Emblica officinalis): mainly affects the lungs, stomach, liver and heart. It is a rich source of antioxidants, flavonoids, carotenes and vitamin C. The tannins in Amla make Vitamin C resistant to heat and does not degrade during long storage.
Haritaki (Harada, Chebulic Myrobalan): The fruit is a rich source of tannins, amino acids and fructose. It also contains succinic acid and sitosterol. It has properties that reduce intestinal spasms and hypertension. This confirms the traditional use in diseases of the cardiovascular system and spasmodic diseases of the large and small intestines.
Bibhitaki (Beheda, Bellirica Myrobalan): Acts mainly on the lungs, heart and liver. It contains 35% oils and 45% proteins. The sweet smelling oil is 35% palmitic, 24% oleic and 31% linoleic acid. Linoleic oil is the main fatty acid associated with an increase in HDL ("good" cholesterol) and a decrease in LDL, which is considered a risk factor for the development of coronary artery disease.
